Komaneka Monkey Forest Resort – Ubud Accommodations

Our favorite place to stay in Ubud is the Komaneka at Monkey Forest Resort. Its location is prime, right on Monkey Forest Jalan in the heart of Ubud. You can walk to shopping, the Sacred Monkey Forest, great restaurants and bars.

Komaneka is not cheap. But what they lack in inexpensive accommodations, they make up for in service and quality. Your room might have:

  • A private plunge pool
  • A personal natural waterfall
  • Jungle views
  • A large bath tub
  • Teatime service
  • Incredible breakfasts in your room

Our bathtub was adjacent to an outdoor private Koi Pond. The service at Komaneka was superb, with daily teatime as well as breakfast service in our room or on our private outdoor lanai.

There were only 2 things that disappointed us on our stay:

  • Everything is expensive. They charged us for EVERYTHING they could.
  • Our king size bed was made up of 2 smaller beds. It had that uncomfortable line in between (not optimal for someone on their honeymoon.)

BUT, everything else was top-notch. The location has to be the best in Ubud because you can walk everywhere. Ubud is full of great restaurants and bars. The shopping is arguably the best in Bali. Ubud is very alive with activity. You’ll find the people are as warm as the air.

Komaneka at the Monkey Forest also has a brilliant fine art collection in the front. This collection holds the world’s finest collection of Indonesian and Balinese fine art. The art tends to be more modern and unique relative to the more touristy work you’ll find sold in other Ubud art galleries.

They also have a great spa on the premises, though it’s very expensive as well.

Also, just down the street from the Komaneka, enjoy Ubud’s Legong Dance and Ramayana at the Ubud Palace. Turn right when leaving the resort and walk to the next major intersection. On the far right corner, across the street, you’ll see the Ubud Palace.
