The Fire Station – Sanur Dining

When it comes to restaurant options in Bali, there’s no shortage of spectacular choices for every type of cuisine. One of our absolute favorite places for excellent food and cocktails in South Bali, however, is The Fire Station, located conveniently in Sanur.

We had the opportunity to chat with the fun, funky and lovably eccentric owner Frederik, as well as the talented young Chef, who have created a menu of scrumptious specialties that will appease every member of your group.

For dinner, we chose the Spicy Buffalo Wings as a starter, as well as the Crispy Pork Belly with Cauliflower Puree, Green Beans and Sautéed Potatoes, and Chicken & Chorizo Pasta with Tomatoes. Delish! Having had our fair share of pork belly around the island, we can safely say this was our favorite, and the pasta was creamy and delicious without being overwhelmingly rich or oily. We also recommend other specialties like the Flamed Yellowfin Tuna with Asparagus and Basil Dressing, Guinness Beer-Battered Fish & Chips, Roasted Stuffed Peppers and Beetroot & Asparagus Salad. YUM.

While the presentation and quality of the dishes are similar to any 5-star restaurant, we’re also happy to report that the portions are much larger.

We absolutely recommend taking advantage of their extensive wine menu, which offers an assortment of bottles from around the world for very fair prices. If you’ve done your research about wine in Bali, you know this is nearly impossible to find! Cocktail lovers will also love a post-dinner Espresso Martini with dessert, or Bloody Mary.

The ambience is welcoming and lively, and it’s clearly the late-night hangout for those in the neighborhood. Service was top notch, and for the price and quality, we think this is one of the best value restaurants you’ll find in South Bali.

Happy eating, travelers!
